As the lead contractor in the Homeland Security/Homeland Defense (HLS/HLD) Division of the U. S. Naval War College, Netsimco “earned its stripes” in the immediate wake of September 11th, by providing a strategic planning/crisis action exercise for the Fire Department of New York. This exercise received nationwide recognition and high praise from New York City leadership. This outstanding effort became the genesis for a series of high-level, high-visibility HLS/HLD events.
These events included the following customers:
- New York Police Department
- Federal Emergency Management Agency
- New York City Office of Emergency Management
- State of Rhode Island
- Greater New York Hospital Association
- Transportation Security Agency
Participants included elected officials (Mayor of NYC), senior level decisions makers, senior uniformed personnel and industry executives. Exercises are designed to focus these key decision makers on strategic and operational issues. Our well-crafted scenarios took these groups through a step-by-step process that examines key issues, destroys preconceived notions, and allows participants to explore new alternatives. Issues include:
- Crisis/consequence management
- Inter-agency cooperation
- Command and control
- Government/industry cooperation
- Risk analysis
- Defense support for civic authorities
- Executive decision-making
- Media considerations
